Herman Rosa Chávez

    Herman Rosa Chávez is a researcher-consultant and a member of the Climate Security Expert Network. As former Minister of Environment of El Salvador (June 2009-May 2014) he refocused environmental policy to the twin goals of reversing environmental degradation and reducing vulnerability to climate change, and launched internationally recognized initiatives on disaster risk reduction and landscape restoration, among others. From 1993-2009, he was Senior Researcher and then Director of PRISMA, a regional think-tank on environment and development issues based in San Salvador. He holds degrees in Engineering and Economics, and an M.A. on Economic Policy and International Relations.
