Nafisa Nasruddin holds an MS in International Relations and is currently pursuing an MSc in International Development Studies (Conflict, Security & Development) at the University of Birmingham as a Commonwealth Scholar. She has over six years of experience working as a Program & Research Associate and serves as the focal person for Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) at the International Center for Refugee and Migration Studies (ICRMS). In addition, she has collaborated as an external Senior Researcher with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on research projects focusing on (1) forcibly displaced Afghans, urban violence, and security, and (2) building trust between law enforcement agencies and citizens in Quetta.

Her academic training includes graduating with distinction from the Refugee Studies Centre, University of Oxford, and participation in the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law’s Displaced Scholars Mentoring Program, underscoring her commitment to forced migration and refugee studies. Ms. Nafisa has also worked extensively on community development initiatives, building leadership, advocacy, and capacity-building skills among rural women in Balochistan in collaboration with the Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP).

She conducted an award-winning research study titled “Climate-Induced Vulnerabilities of Displaced Afghans in Balochistan, Pakistan” and was a recipient of ICRMS’s Emerging Scholars Research Award (ESRA) in 2022. She has presented her research findings at numerous national and international conferences, symposiums, and workshops organized by United Nations Development Programme and UN Women, highlighting the intersecting vulnerabilities of displaced women. Furthermore, she is a member of the national forum Women in Climate in Pakistan as a researcher and has played a supervisory role in quantitative and qualitative data collection in Quetta in collaboration with UN-Habitat and the University of Engineering and Technology NED.
