XV World Forestry Congress 2022

2 May 2022 - 6 May 2022
Seoul, South Korea

The XV World Forestry Congress, held in Seoul under the theme "Building a Green, Healthy and Resilient Future with Forests," aims to further develop the outcomes of major global events scheduled before the Congress, including the Rio Conventions’ Conferences of the Parties, the IUCN World Conservation Congress and the UN Food Systems Summit.

2 May - 6 May 2022

The XV World Forestry Congress has been rescheduled to 2 May - 6 May 2022 in Seoul. The new dates will enable the Congress to build on the momentum following the outcomes of the major global events scheduled before the Congress, including the Rio Conventions’ Conferences of Parties (UNFCCC COP26, CBD COP15, and UNCCD COP15), the IUCN World Conservation Congress, and the UN Food Systems Summit.

The year 2022 is a critical year in that the international community’s concerted efforts and actions are required now more than ever to achieve a carbon-neutral world and combat the climate crisis. The Republic of Korea will keep up its efforts to help advance international cooperation in the forest sector. Organizing and hosting a successful World Forestry Congress in 2022 is an important part of the efforts. We expect that the Congress will also be an important milestone in paving the way for building back better after the pandemic.

Dr Eunsik ParkSecretary-General, XV WFC
