Sagal Abshir

Sagal Abshir is a lawyer, writer, researcher and member of the Climate Security Expert Network with twenty years of experience across private and public sectors in the US and Africa, and is currently working on political, climate and governance issues in the Horn of Africa. She is currently Head of the Environment Security Unit at UNEP. She has worked extensively with government, multilateral agencies, and think tanks. Her work ranges from direct engagement in politics, policy making and implementation, to undertaking research on the various technical and political challenges of statebuilding in fragile contexts.
