Sarneet Saran

Sarneet Saran is a Project Assistant in the Climate Diplomacy and Security team at adelphi. Her background lies in marketing, communications and project management, with work experiences in the US corporate sphere. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business and Social Sciences from Minerva University, where she studied in 6 different countries across the world (USA, Germany, UK, South Korea, Argentina and Taiwan), giving her first-hand exposure to various cultural contexts. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Sustainable Development at Leipzig University in Germany. Her passions lie in fostering effective climate communication, to ensure knowledge reach across cultures and backgrounds. Raised in Hong Kong and ethnically Indian, she holds a particular interest in sustainable development issues on the Asian continent.

Water disputes between India and Pakistan are deepening. The Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) survived diplomatic tensions for almost sixty years. However, upstream water infrastructure projects, violent episodes and escalating political tension resulted in the suspension of the IWT in 2025, with no clear timeline for restoration. These factors have serious implications for future interstate cooperation and regional developments.
