UNITing Efforts to defeat wildlife, timber and waste trafficking (UNITE)

The "UNITE” (UNITing Efforts to defeat wildlife, timber and waste trafficking) project will strengthen cross-border cooperation between EU members and non-EU partners in order to prevent and combat major illicit phenomena related to environmental crime, such as trafficking in waste and wildlife species, by consolidating coordination with Europe and the EMPACT platform and supporting joint investigative activities.

UNITing Efforts to defeat wildlife, timber and waste trafficking (UNITE)

Under the Internal Security Fund (ISF) 2014-2020 instrument, the European Commission has launched projects aimed at preventing environmental crime, in line with EMPACT operational priorities. In this context, the French National Gendarmerie and the Arma dei Carabinieri (as drivers of the “Environmental Crime” priority of the 2018-2021 policy cycle) have taken the lead in a project proposal submitted together with other international partners.
