The Wilson Center Africa Program is hosting a discussion on “Challenges, Lessons Learned, and Opportunities for Peacebuilding in Transboundary River Basins: A Case Study of the Eastern Nile Basin." Transboundary water governance has played a critical role in the security and cooperation dynamics within the Eastern Nile Basin. This event will examine the challenges that continue to pose barriers to peace in the region.

Speakers will analyze the key security challenges in transboundary river basins including the Eastern Nile Basin, assess responses and frameworks that have sought to address the intertwined challenges to peacebuilding and water governance, and offer key policy recommendations and lessons learned for improving shared water resource management and peacebuilding, including in the Eastern Nile Basin.
