Berlin Climate and Security Conference (BCSC) 2024
The conference will examine climate change impacts and the entire conflict cycle from peace-making to post-conflict reconstruction, link climate risks and security objectives and identify how the role of the security and defence sector can address this nexus. BCSC 2024 will also build awareness and capacity to conduct and use climate security risk analysis and foresight assessments to enable holistic peace-building and stabilization action.
Who: High-level political actors, climate security experts, international organisations and practitioners. In-person participation is through invitation only.
What: Since its inaugural edition in 2019, the annual Berlin Climate and Security Conference (BCSC) has become the global forum connecting governments, international organisations, experts, and practitioners working to promote interlinkages between different approaches within the climate and security agenda whilst also critically interrogating complex new challenges.
When: 8 October 2024; There will be official side events taking place on 7 and 9 October.
Where: German Federal Foreign Office and livestreamed; Side events will take place at different locations in Berlin.
Why: To promote, coordinate and advance concrete climate security approaches and initiatives to drive action and implementation efforts.
