The Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding organized a virtual panel titled “Regional Implications of Climate-Security Risks in Africa: The Need for Holistic Responses.” This Chair’s Summary synthesizes the key messages and recommendations that were put forward during the panel discussion. It sheds light on the impacts of climate change on peace and development in Africa, the main challenges and gaps in addressing the regional implications of climate-related security and development risks, as well as identifies key opportunities and entry points for advancing holistic responses to strengthen peace-positive climate adaptation and mitigation and climate-responsive peacebuilding to maintain regional peace and stability.
