Nina Schmelzer

Nina Schmelzer was a Project Assistant at adelphi where she works on projects at the intersection of climate change and diplomacy. As a Master’s student of international affairs with a focus on international security, she is passionate about how environmental change interacts with social, political, and economic risks to exacerbate conflict, especially with respect to the agricultural sector.

70 percent of climate vulnerable countries are the most fragile. This should mean that these countries are prioritised by climate finance. Yet, the reality is the opposite. Access to climate finance for fragile and conflict countries is often hindered by structural, technical and institutional barriers. Overcoming these challenges is vital for sustainable peace.
