WATCH: A Green Central Asia can be a blue print for preventive and stabilising climate foreign policy. This panel discussion explores how scientific and comprehensive multi-sectoral approaches can enable countries to assess the impact of climate change more accurately to take preventive measures. At the same time, collaboration and dialogue on climate, environment and security are considered as entry points in conflict prevention and strengthening cross-border cooperation. By providing a platform for national, regional and international stakeholders engaged in Central Asia´s fight against climate change, this session will explore approaches to jointly pursue climate resilience and regional stability through a coordinated approach. Panellists will discuss how the Green Central Asia Initiative, commissioned by the Federal Foreign Office, and other relevant initiatives and activities contribute to Germany´s new climate foreign policy, as well as platforming other perspectives, including civil society, on challenges and opportunities ahead.
